Ever since the establishment Fifty Nine years ago, the Department of Physical Education has been striving vibrantly to foster the aspiring sports persons. The Department of Physical Education has inculcated in the students discipline, leadership qualities, courage, competence and confidence through Sports activities. The high class sports facilities available in the college have attracted students from various departments and they are benefited by them. Good talented students represent our college in all the sports and games. Our students have made us proud by bringing many laurels to the institution and by representing the Inter National Mission Olympics, All India Inter University, Senior State, Junior State, University Inter – Collegiate team in various Open Tournaments and Sports. The institution is lending its constant support by not only providing the students with adequate facilities but also by felicitating them on special occasions. Thus the Physical Education Department has been contributing in every possible way to nurture student’s talents and make them highly successful. The department has always stood with the students to help them spread their wings and fly high to success.

                    Our vision is to consistently cater to the needs of the sportspersons and provide them with up to date facilities, which would lead to the development of their prowess.

Major Tournaments :

1. Cricket League Tournament at Pope’s College ground organized by Thoothukudi District Cricket Association from 2012 till date. 
2. Byckka Panjayath Rural level Sports & Tournaments, the Open Schools Rural level Sports & Tournaments organized by Thoothukudi District Srivaikuntam Panjayath 2012-2013 at Pope’s College Ground.
3. Pope’s College & Weldon Club jointly conducting the State level Men & Women Volley Ball Tournament at our college volley ball court every year.
4. Pope’s I Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament-2014 was organized in a grand manner. The Rolling Trophy was given to the winning team and our college won the Runner-Up title.
5. M.S University Inter Collegiate Tournament has been conducted in our college cricket ground every year.
